I bought this shepherd's hook assemble to hold a bird feeder that, when filled, weighs about 8-9 lbs. I had another hook of about the same height and material that lasted several years, but it had started to corrode.This hook immediately bowed when I placed the birdfeeder on it while at its highest assembly. I removed one of the sections of the hook to make it a bit sturdier and took out some of the bird seed to reduce the overall weight.Within 2 days, the hook had bent at the center and the stakes that hold it in the ground had bent as well. Reducing the height any more would have put my feeder too low to the ground (and would have given my dogs a tasty snack), so I instead repurposed the hook to hold a small planter and will look for other options for my feeder.I loved how quick and easy the hook was to assemble, and it would be very easy to disassemble and store. I plan on keeping the non-bent pieces and using it in the future, but I would not recommend this for anything over 6 lbs (unless you don't need to use the full height). For heaver uses, the black iron types sold at garden centers are similarly priced and much sturdier.

I returned this because it was too big for my area, but WOW! was it sturdy! Highly recommend, but check out the dimensions before you order!

I bought this to hang up my bird feeder. I guess I didn't realize from the description that it came in pieces and was hollow on the inside. It bows over due to the weight of the bird feeder. Last night we had a strong wind due to a front that moved in with the rain, and the bird feeder that was pointing north is now pointing south. I assume means the pieces don't lock in very well and it pivoted during the rain. That was a shock to wake up to this morning. I guess if you don't have anything too heavy, this will be OK, but it's not great for what I need.

This makes a great place to hang a heavy bird feeder of hanging plant. It's very sturdy. An added bonus is squirrels have a hard time climbing this one.
