I was looking for cover to fit my old beldray ironing board (over 35 yrs old) and couldn't find one to fit as my ironing board has a built in iron plate (not removable).The ironing board is still good and wide so I bought this cover which seems excellent for the price not over thick but not too thin. I haven't used it yet though. It has drawstrings but they appear to be at the thin end of of ironing boards now or they make elastic ones none of which fit my board properly. Its a bit long winded but I managed to fit it, this is why I'm writing this review for anyone else who has a old style board. I removed the metal inner plate from the iron rest and a metal bar that was holding it on with 2 screws (see Pictures I've tried to illusrate how i did it) I fitted the cover over the whole board. I made 2 small slits and two holes in the ironing board cover. Fitted the plate back in and the bar using the holes I made to fit it. Please excuse the rusted bar I may get some paint to cover it. So anyway I can now rest the iron on the plate whilst ironing now.The cover only just fitted but it did with minimal excess so the only thing | think I would have done different was buy the longer one ( I bought 130 x 50) I think they do it in 140 x 55. The cover may get warm under the iron plate but I figured that I don't iron for hours, half hour at most, probably heat resistant anyway but worth keeping an eye on if ironing for hours.
