I needed to replace my old Columbia hiking shoes that had worn out. I must have spent 6 months finding the right pair. This pair of Newton Ridge boots fits the bill for me. They are comfortable right out of he box, waterproof, and cute. Columbia's sizing seems to have changed since the last few pairs I purchased. I had to go up half a size to keep my big toe from bumping against the front for this style and the Crestwood hiking shoes.

I needed a water proof shoe for my new job as a preschool teacher at our local Zoo & Aquarium. Our classroom is a good 15-30 minute walk and we go in all weather. After one walk in the rain I knew I needed something to prevent wet feet.Well it rained on the 2nd day wearing them. It was pouring outside, but my feet are still dry. You can see in the picture the water droplets beading on top of the shoe. I do think they need some breaking in as my ankles hurt a little in them, but maybe it’s me. I’ve never worn hiking boots before.Additional perk I didn’t know about is the little inserts inside the shoe are not glued down so they’re easily removable so I can put my custom orthotics in. I really appreciate that.

I ordered these ahead of a trip to Sedona AZ where I knew we were going to be doing some serious hiking. I was on the fence about buying hiking boots, and boy am I glad I did. I saw that these had great reviews and the price point was good so I gave these a shot, and I'm very satisfied with them! My feet didn't hurt at all during the 5+ mile hike and my ankles were very supported. They also flattered my rather large feet nicely (I wear a size 11, got these in an 11 and they were perfect).

These are super comfy. I walked and hiked 9-11 miles a day and my feet were a bit hot in the 80+ temperatures but without a break-in time I only had a baby blister on a toe that I had a pedicure to remove the calluses and others had horrible blisters ALL OVER their feet. They are not very breathable and on the day that It poured my whole foot was wet while my son in another brand of waterproof had dry feet.

I love the classy style with the two tone colors and bright shoe laces. The boots make your feet look smaller. which is a plus. I walk outdoors daily and had been wearing regular tennis shoes; however where the walks are raised, etc., there is standing water and I've had to carefully walk around the puddles. Now that I have the waterproof Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Boots there is no problem. They are very comfortable. We haven't had any snow yet, but I am sure they will keep me upright.
