My little ones really love magnetic tiles. These are huge bases that help to encourage them to build fun cities and buildings. The magnets stick well and these pair wonderfully with our other magnetic tiles. Awesome buy!

The base plates are great; my granddaughter can now build large structures using her magnet shapes that are sturdy and moveable using the base plates.

CONNETIX Rainbow Base Plate Pack, 2 PiecesMy grandchildren range in age from 18 months to 12 years old. They all love working with magnetic tiles in many different ways. However, building structures on carpeting or uneven floors can be challenging. Too often their creations would topple or fall over. Using base plates is a great way to support the tiles in those instance. Base plates can also be used to provide spatial information when assembling a structure or to limit a structure to a predetermined size. Of course, they can also be integrated right into a builder’s design. While the Connetix brand bases are more expensive than others, they are consistently stronger and more durable. In one of my photos, you can see where I placed a dozen heavy metal rings onto one of the approximately 12”X12” plates. When standing the base up and also holding it upside down, the rings stayed perfectly in place. If you are exploring base plates, you probably already have a collection of tiles and know how much fun children can have creating with them. At the same time that they are playing and exploring creatively, children are actually building their skills in several cognitive areas. There is a delightful booklet included with the plates that includes examples of those skills and photos of different structures. I was impressed by how well the base plates were packaged and protected making them easy to store as well as gift wrap. This is a product that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, but needs to be supervised with younger ones because of the safety issues surrounding magnets.
