When I ordered this, I had in mind that it was a "soft" fabric cover with a thin layer of padding in it (like a laptop cover) - this was entirely my own mistake for not thoroughly reading the item details. It is actually several layers of slippery, slightly shiny waterproof fabric, with the pouch and pocket both made of this, along with a zip and wrist strap/handle. The otter design is on the back, front and pocket of the bag, and is very cute!Initially, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the soft, padded pouch I expected but it is in fact a very good item. In terms of size, I can easily fit a standard paperback book, "regular" Kindle, A5 notebook and pens, phone and more in (and I regularly do have all this and more in mine). I can just about squeeze my Kindle Scribe in without a case - with a case it's just that bit too small, so something to consider if you have this larger e-reader. The zip is reliable - I haven't had any problems with it sticking, opening or breaking. Similarly, the wrist strap seems well constructed - even with my tendency to throw everything but the kitchen sink into mine, it's held up well and doesn't show any signs of tearing away from the body of the pouch.It works great to stop my kindle and books from getting beaten up in my larger handbag and equally well to keep my bookish bits and pieces together to be able to just "grab and go". While I didn't love the plastic-feel of the pouch initially, I certainly do appreciate the waterproofing, particularly for someone as clumsy as I am, when it comes to having drinks around both paper and electronic books!
