Ik heb de Cubilux aangesloten op drie verschillende PC's (waaronder een nieuwe Windows11 laptop) naar mijn versterker en verschillende geluidsinstellingen geprobeerd. Op alle drie zijn er veel korte haperingen in het geluid.

Cubilux USB A to TOSLINK Optical Audio Adapter is a great little device, it gives me perfect 5.1 sound on Windows 10, Linux Mint and Raspberry Pi OS.I bought this to replace an old Soundblaster XFi card with optical output which connects a PC to my home theatre 5.1 surround sound system. The latest versions of Windows/Linux don't recognise the Soundblaster sound card, and this USB device was a simple solution which enabled me to upgrade the OS on the PC. It also opens the door to replacing the PC with a N100 mini and still connect with 5.1 sound. The device was recognised out of the box by Windows, Linux Mint and Raspberry Pi OS, but the key to getting it working was VLC media player with its multitude of settings, to enable the 5.1 signal to be passed through to the amp without any processing.Perhaps these details will help others:WINDOWSSettings / Sound / Output Device = S/PDIF Interface (USB Interface Adapter)VLC:- Force S/PDIF support = checked (also works unchecked)- Force detection of Dolby Surround = Auto- Output module = Auto- HDMI / S/PDIF audio passthrough = Enabled- Device = S/PDIF Interface (USB SPDIF Adapter)LINUX MINTSettings / Sound / Device = Digital Output (S/PDIF) USB AdapterProfile = Digital Stereo (IEC 958) OutputVLC:- Force S/SDIF Support = checked- Force detection = Auto- Output module = ALSA- Use S/PDIF when available = checked- Device = USB S/PDIF Adapter USB Audio Direct hardware device without any conversion- (or Device = USB Audio IEC958 S/PDIF Digital Audio Output)RASPBERRY PI OSAs above for Linux Mint, just select the USB device from the list with passthrough / no processingI've tested it on Windows/Linux Mint/Raspberry Pi OS with encoded 5.1 content (movies, TV, etc). I downloaded some samples which test all the speakers in turn to check it's all working, I'd forgotten how brilliant some of the demos are with sounds coming at you from all directions. I expect it won't work with PC game sound effects unless your PC can encode them into a 5.1 stream in real-time, but that's not my use case anyhow. It outputs stereo sound just fine too, I use Dolby Prologic on the amp to copy stereo sound to the rears in that scenario. While experimenting I couldn't get it working on Linux Ubuntu as the device list in VLC was empty, but I prefer Mint anyhow so that wasn't a problem for me. Time will tell whether it's reliable but so far it works great for my particular needs.
