Cycle2Charge V3 Plus

Got some trouble installing it just because I didn't read that you had to turn off you're lights for the charger to work. Contacted the email on the original website and the guy replied super fast and was super helpful. It is quite expensive for what it is if I'm not mistaken, but so are the alternatives and the end result speak for itself. Super clean and :D

The idea of an integrated USB charging port, powered by the bike dynamo, sounds great on paper. Unfortunately I can't recommend this. The first practical issue is you cannot use the charger simultaneously with the lights. Once you turn on your lights, the unit stops working. The second (bigger) issue is the charge power is so low, it doesn't even keep my phone from draining it's battery when google maps is in use. On a 25 minute trip at about 20km/h speed, my phone dropped from 90 to 86 percent even though it does detect USB power and shows the charging icon. Turning off 5g didn't habe a noticeable effecf either. All cable connections were 100 percent good and the dynamo is a top of the line Son28.I'm not sure why the cycle2charge V3 plus drains so little energy from the dynamo to the point it can't even keep my phone from draining. Turning on the lights for example makes the dynamo create a noticeable drag, indicating the lights use power. Using the cycle2charge the wheel turns much more freely, almost as if it doesn't 'ask' for power at all.Regardless of the technicalities, this isn't usefull and I rather bring a small powerbank that can be quick charged.

In a day of bicycle touring, around 6 to 10 hours of cycling, around 18km/h. I can charge my garmin gps constantly to 100% and disconnect it for a while and charge my phone and little bit of my power bank. Using Shimano Alfine dynamo hub.

After installing and reading the manual it work like charm!

Ja precies zoals omschreven.Als je 1 rechterhand hebt kan je het zelf installeren.Ik vind dit voor een fietsvakantie een must.En anders zeker een werkzame gadget.Het zorgt ervoor dat ik vaak op de gps/kaart kan kijken en de batterij is nog niet onder de 60% gekomen over de hele dag fietsen gezien. Zonder was mijn mobiel na 2 uur wel leeg.
