It is by no means a "Shotgun Microphone", it is a microphone that captures absolutely all the sounds around it, so it is a regular microphone.

Ce micro canon est une vraie surprise ! La qualité sonore est incroyable pour sa taille. Il capte parfaitement la voix tout en éliminant les bruits de fond. Il est léger, facile à installer et très pratique pour les vlogs ou les interviews. Un excellent rapport qualité/prix. Je le recommande vivement !

Very impressive at this price point. Quality is comparable to the original Rode videomic, but the build quality is far better. There are better mics, but you'd need to spend a great deal more for a comparatively small benefit. It's also tiny, a decided benefit for use with dslr/mirrorless format cameras.
