I've been using the previous generation of this backpack for years. It is still working fine, but the color got a bit faded out from the sun and the external elastic bands (in the sternum strap, various strap keepers) have lost their elasticity. This has also happened to every other Deuter backpack that I've had in my life, I don't know if any other company makes backpacks that don't suffer from this, as I keep buying Deuter since I'm used to them. After a few years, I usually cut the original elastic bands and sew in new pieces.There are several welcome changes in this updated 2024 version:- The front stash pocket (can fit a helmet or other stuff, e.g. a jacket) is nice and large. On the older version, this pocket, when not in use, could be hidden behind a dedicated zipper, and was too small for anything but a helmet. I also found it a bit of a hassle to take it out or stow it away. The new pocket is much larger. It also features long vertical reflective stripes, which is better for safety. Winner: new model.- Mesh tool organizer in the front pocket: I always found this feature very useful to store small items. The older version had the mesh pocket split into two same-sized sections, while the new one has three. I only store small items there, and each section is big enough to store anything that I would put there, so having more sections is better for organization. Winner: new model.- External zippered air pump pocket on the side. The older version had a sewn in pump holder inside the main compartment. The new external pocket is easier to access. However, a long pump, like my Topeak Mountain Morph, doesn't fit in the new pocket. I'll probably get a more compact and lightweight pump for tours, and/or store the pump at the bottom of the main compartment, and use the extra pocket for other items that I need more often (the pump is very rarely needed). Winner: it depends on the size of your pump. I like the external pocket better, so for me the new model is the winner.- Shoulder strap now has a loop to temporarily hang your (sun)glasses from. Before, I wanted this obvious feature, also at some point I was using a Deuter Sunglasses Pouch on my hiking backpack (attaches to the shoulder strap, protects the glasses from scratches and dust). Nowadays, for temporary storage I use a neck lanyard that is attached to my sunglasses, or else I put them away in their case (inside the bag). But still, having this loop can come in handy. Winner: new model.- The sternum strap buckle now features a whistle. The older version didn't have it. A small detail, but it's good to have it, I guess. Winner: new model, although unclipping the buckle is a bit easier on the older version.The following features are inherited from the older version:- The AirStripes back system. The mesh looks a bit different, but the basic idea is the same, and it works pretty good. The back doesn't sweat (so much) with this bag. In my experience, only AirComfort back system (mostly found on some of Deuter's hiking models) offers better ventilation. But AirComfort is more rigid and for bicycling I prefer AirStripes for the way it more flexibly conforms to the shape of my back.- The main compartment's zipper spans about 2/3 of the backpack's length. With the zipper fully open, you can open the bag really wide and easily reach any item deep inside, without having to rummage through the hole contents like it would be with many other backpacks.- The hydration pack pocket on the inside is big enough for a Deuter Streamer 3 l bladder (made by Source Outdoor). It's actually big enough for a Source WXP Low Profile 3 l bladder, which is wider and longer, but thinner when full. I prefer the WXP LP bladder, because it gets less in the way of other items.- Separate bottom pocket with an internal zippered divider. This is a great feature, e.g. for keeping a sleeping bag or a bulky jacket separately. Or unzip the divider and use the entire volume as a single space.What I would improve:- I would add a couple of loops at the bottom for hiking poles, and elastic keepers at the top - like in Deuter's hiking backpacks. I like multi-functional items, and this bicycle-specific backpack actually ticks most of my boxes for a hiking backpack, add just a few (cheap) details and it would be perfect for hiking. I'll probably just sew something on myself.

Um zum Wanderziel direkt mit Handgepäck zu reisen habe ich mir den Rucksack gekauft. In der Länge lässt er sich ein wenig stauchen um auf eine Länge von 55 cm zu kommen, damit sollte er in den meisten Fluggesellschaften als (zusätzlich bezahltes) Handgepäck durchgehen. Mir ist das lieber, da ich so garantiert mein Gepäck am Zielort habe.Erster Eindruck (noch keine Tour mit dem gemacht, nur mit der normalen Version):+ Fachaufteilung+ Tragesystem+ Wasserflaschenfach auch gut für Laptop- Seitentaschen sind etwas zu eng, da eine 1,5 L Einwegwasserflasche nur gerade so reinpasst und nur schwer wieder rausgeht.Das mit den Seitentaschen hat mich so gestört, dass ich nun endlich (wollte ich schon lange) zwei Taschen für die Schultergurte gekauft habe um dort 0,5l bis 1.0l Flaschen reinzustecken und diese somit leichter im Zugriff habe.+

Habe mal etwas mehr für ein Markenprodukt ausgegeben und es nicht bereut.Vom Material über die Verarbeitung bis zur Funktionalität ist das ein klasse Rucksack! Ich nutze ihn fast täglich beim Radfahren zur Arbeit.Ich habe die größere "EL"-Variante gewählt und bekomme Regen- und Ersatzkleidung, sowie etwas Werkzeug und andere Kleinigkeiten prima unter. Der integrierte Regenüberzug und weitere Täschchen am Bauchgurt runden das Gesamtbild ab.Volle Begeisterung, volle 5 Sterne.

Ein gut durchdachter einfach zu packender Rucksack

Sehr durchdachter Rucksack. Trage ihn fast täglich auf dem Weg zur Arbeit. Guter Sitz auch bei 1,98m Körpergröße. Das einzige was nervt ist, dass er beim Abstellen nicht stehen bleibt.
