Maybe I got a dud. Plugged the red wire into a 5V supply and got 5V on the brown 'test' wire! Yikes. It's going back.

Pay attention to the fact, that the wiring schematics is to be seen from the Front side of the device, where the LED are located. So if you change over Power Supply Table and Output cable, the LED will be illuminated, but no current is indicated ( 000 mA).If it is connected well, it works very good. See Photo.

Very easy to use ammeter. This one is suitable for loads drawing up to 1A. I've run a few tests using a 5V source to replicate what I'll be doing with it in a Raspberry Pi project I have in mind and it seems reasonably accurate. There are no instructions supplied but it's easy to work out from the bit of blurb in the Amazon listing, plus it's pretty obvious anyway - if you can't work it out you're not ready for this kind of project use.It has fairly standard case fittings so is very suitable for panel use. Good value at under £7.50.
