Update: I finally managed to find some batteries and noticed that the power kept glitching. I fixed this by bending the connectors at the back out a little so that it had a good contact with the batteries underneath and now it works well. My daughter loves playing this and makes little tunes. She might be the next David Guetta in the making! It is a little limiting and the button responsiveness isn't ideal but she can match the three tunes (3 sets of sound effects) that this unit produces quite well with a bit of practise. The mini tracks are quite catchy and easy to master. She has started making her own little electronic tracks with it which is pretty cool. Still, I would only give this 3 stars due to the price, initial impressions and the slight limitations but there is not much out there for young kids to play music mixes like this one, so it deserves a 3 star rating for the uniqueness and joy this has brought to my kid.-----I really wanted to give this a higher rating, as I thought my child would have loved it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work right out of the box. After pulling the battery tab, it flickered briefly before completely dying. Additionally, it requires the uncommon 4 x LR1130 button batteries, which is another major let-down. Aesthetically, the rubber buttons feel good and are easy to press, but the two dials (turntables) that are meant to rotate are very stiff and hard to turn. There were no instructions included, and with dead batteries from the start, I can only give this product a 2-star rating, which honestly feels generous.

I know quite a few people who DJ, so was looking forward to giving this to one of them as a comedy gift. However, I may save it for someone who wants to become a DJ!The two discs turn, but don't do anything, and there's just three very short pre-recorded "sets", each of which is about 10 seconds long. Worse, you can't do anything while one of these sets is playing, and you have to wait for the set to finish before you can start pushing buttons to make your own "mix".All in all, it may be worth handing to a sugar-fueled hyperactive niece or nephew just as their family is getting into a car, but it would have been nice to see it being a little bit more capable!
