Although it works fine the coil consumes 1.7 amps at 12v (20W) the coil resistance is 5.5Ω when cold and increases to 9Ω as the coil heats up. The relay will engage with 4V supply to the coil and draws 0.5 amps so I think it is best to run the coil at 6V if possible to reduce heat and current consumption.
