This book is huge, complete, with music origins explanations, rythm, soloing aproaching, chords, scales, scale degrees, finger picking notation . It has both music sheet and tab notation, it has examples on every rythm and also at the end there are long backing tracks., each rythm comes also with suggested listelings to get familiar with the sound. This book is very very complete.

It is a complete guide to Latin American music. I am going step by step and listening to the recommended tracks. Im already playing some salsa. Recommended. I had my doubts before buying it because the Amazon description had some spelling mistakes and imprecisions, but now Im sure these mistakes have nothing to do with the quality of the book.

The person who criticized the spelling obviously didn't buy this book, its spelt correctly there.As a Cuban, Panamanian who grew up in southern California with a large Mexican population, the feel of the excercises rings true, he gets it. Do you need to play jazz? Nope, just realize that there are more than 1st position chords and understand enought theory to improvise solos once you get the feel for each style.My one criticism, I wish the examples could be downloaded. I havn't owned a CD player for 10 years.
