Wow!I drink at least a couple of shots of espresso daily and the struggle with grinders has made it a challenge for home 'baristas' (I don't claim the title.)I recently had a $70-100+ burr grinder- which I'd been using for 8 or so months- flip out and quit grinding steadily. Now I have to feed it almost bean by bean to keep it from stopping. (It's an Aromaster BTW)So, at seeing this simple, portable, small, USB-powered burr grinder- and at such a reasonable price point- I almost laughed. "This thing has to be a TOY...", I thought. So when I got this I plugged it in- and no LED indication at all- but that was because it didn't need any additional charge. Later I found that when it is plugged into USB-C and IS charging a red LED shows on the front. So I weighed out my 16g of semi-dark-roasted beans (I roast them myself) and they had to figure out how to open this thing up! There is a TINY (almost invisible, black) triangle on the motor/top section that matches with a small (also black) 'lock/unlock' symbol needed you to turn the top clockwise a bit to release.More simply, the clear grind catch section is just held with o-rings and pulls straight off.I wasn't very optimistic that it would grind anywhere fine enough for espresso but I set it at #5 (of I think 40?) on the scale, put in the beans and set it down to grind. It is SO beautifully QUIET compared to most grinders! But it still hadn't proven anything. How long would it take? The burr is very small diameter- even less than most hand grinders I've used so I wasn't expecting much- or even expecting it to finish at all!But- to my pleasant surprise in So far it has kept that kind of process for at least 4 times- without even needing another charge!Man, am I surprised !!!It is also not hard to clean- comes with a brush- and the clear bottom container doesn't seem to static-prone.This is about the perfect size for a single shot grind and I don't have to be there while it grinds. It _could_ grind a bit finer for a few of my beans- but that it works as well as it does is amazing, considering how many burr grinders just fail completely. If only it holds up for more a few months I'll be even more pleased...Definitely recommended.
