This masonry drill bit really ‘rocks’ my world! I’ve been ‘bored’ with other bits that claim to handle concrete or brick, but this one truly ‘cements’ its place as a top-tier tool. The ‘bit’ starts strong and doesn’t ‘wander,’ which I’m sure any DIY enthusiast would agree is critical.

Needed to run two shielded CAT6 cables through a 35cm thick external wall (plasterboard over concrete & brick). My trusty old Hilti SDS has died and rather than forking out £lol money for a replacement battery, I thought I'd spend a few quid and see if my Makita 18V drill would manage.With a little welly and set to hammer function, the 40cm drill bit went through both skins of the wall, leaving a clean 8mm hole - perfect for a single shielded ethernet cable.Also managed to drill through a 25cm thick concrete, load-bearing wall between the kids' bedrooms, so their consoles, PC & TVs now have wired connections to the upstairs Gigabit switch.We now have CAT6 cables pushing our Gigabit network throughout the house and to 4 external CCTV cameras, which has improved the kids' connection speeds & stability (no more complaints about high ping or drop outs over WiFi) and also takes the pressure off our wireless network.Very happy - decent result for a fraction of the cost of replacing an expensive Hilti SDS battery.
