I have different versions of the AA to D adapter. They use 1, 2 and upto 3 cells.This 3 cell type is my favorite as not only do you get triple the capacity they will work with fewer cells if required.I have used these in 3D cell Maglights I converted to LED as these will greatly reduce the weight of the flashlight while the LED bulb makes the light more efficient so the reduction in capacity is not noticed.Also I like using these with rechargeable NiMH cells as I never had a NiMH cell leak but Alkalines it’s only a matter of time.

A simple, cheap way to turn your D-cell-powered device into a rechargeable.Solves the conundrum of what to do with perfectly good older devices that use D cells. You don't want to keep buying those huge throwaway batteries, but you also don't want to buy D-cell rechargeables and the dedicated charger they would need. But but you probably already have lots of AA rechargeables.The key, as noted, is that when you insert the AA's in the carrier, they are wired in parallel, so to the outside world, it looks like a standard 1.5 volt D cell, whether you have 1, 2 or 3 AA's installed. If you don't need that much longevity you can just put in one. Want a little more? Put in two, etc.Low cost. Works like a charm. Highly recommended.

Man stößt selten mal auf ein so intelligentes und gleichzeitig simples Produkt:Ich habe eine alte MagLite 3D (benötigte Batterien: 3 Monozellen) mit dem hier erhältlichen Zubehör auf LED-Betrieb umgestellt. Das funktionierte schon mal prima. Jetzt wollte ich die Lampe noch auf die bei mir reichlich vorhandenen Eneloops-AA-Akkus umstellen. Und das klappt sensationell gut, denn das Tolle ist: In diesen Adapter passen wahlweise 1 bis 3 AA-Akkus. Man kann die MagLite also wahlweise mit 3 bis 9 Akkus betreiben. Nehme ich die Lampe nur gelegentlich zuhause, betreibe ich sie mit 3 AA-Akkus und habe eine vergleichsweise leichte MagLite. Brauche ich - z.B. auf Reisen - eine längere Betriebsdauer, bestücke ich sie mit 9 Akkus. Mir steht dann eine Ladungsmenge von 9 x 1200 mAh = 17100 mAh zur Verfügung! 3 Stück richtig guter Monozellen-Akkus kämen auf 30000 mAh, die Dinger kosten allerdings auch 10,-- € pro Stück. Okay, man könnte dann Standardbatterien nehmen, aber das ist für mich persönlich keine Option.
