Productdetails

If you have a PC that's older (no M.2 drive sockets), but not too old (has PCIe slots, not just PCI), this brings your old computer closer to the modern era. It requires a couple minutes of assembly, but the parts are all there. Even though I knew where each bit goes, a quick reference / install tips card for newbies would've been nice. The slot cover has two odd holes in it, but it's on the back of your machine, so cosmetic impact is negligible. THREE THINGS to watch out for: 1. your older PC's BIOS *may not* want to boot to this drive (but you can still make it a data drive), 2. your PCIe slot may cap the data transfer speed to lower than the drive's rates specs, and 3. it is not SATA M.2 compatible. All that said, this is a very cost-effective way to breathe some new life into an older box.

Good value fix for when you only have a 1x slot available and need another NVME installed in your system.I've also used this type of card previously for much older systems (i5 4590, so really old) that don't have NVME slots to allow use of a NVME drive as a fast storage option (please note that older systems may not be able to boot from PCI-E slots if the motherboard doesn't recognise them during the boot process, but Windows normally can recognise them after booting into the OS).

Works well, slow, but I have it in the slow socket, which wastes the speed of the NVME drive, but still much faster than a disk based hard drive .

I got this product for free, the following is my honest and unbiased review. This Duttek M.2 NVME to PCIe 3.0/4.0 x4 Adapter lets you mount a M.2 NVME drive and plug it into an open PCIe slot that is faster than 1X. However the transfer speed will be limited to 4X PCIe speed, and so the M.2 NVME drive will be throttled (bottlenecked) by the 4X PCIe bandwidth limitation. This might be OK for someone who does not have an open M.2 slot, and only has an open PCIe slot for expansion. However if you want/need real NVME speeds and only have open PCIe slots, you should instead get a 16X card. Not a fault of this card per se, just be realistic about what is possible.I like that this card has multiple positions to support various length drives, and includes all hardware required to assemble the card. I think that the "cooling holes" ought to be much bigger to be useful, and that a half-height mounting bracket and a screw to mount and secure the NVME drive ought to be included.

This M.2 to PCIe adapter does what it says — lets you mount an NVMe or AHCI SSD into a PCIe x4, x8, or x16 slot. It doesn't support SATA M.2 drives, so it's worth double-checking what you’re using.Installation’s straightforward, and it comes with a small screwdriver and screws for mounting. There’s no heatsink, but the copper vent holes help a bit with airflow. There’s also a basic LED that lights up when powered and flashes during drive activity — not essential, but useful at a glance.
