Lithium Primaries are the only type of non rechargeable battery that should still exist, they pack a lot of power way more than alkalines and they last 20 years+ shelf life and i have yet to see any leak ever if you have anything that draws very little power eg. remote you'll probably never have to swap batteries during it's life, rechargeables will self discharge faster than the power the device will need, also higher starting voltage at 1.8v so make sure you know what this may affect on your specific device.
