These strings are easy to play and are a hybrid gauge 9-46 instead of the standard 10-46.They stand upand don't break on you when you're depending on them.I install these on my customers guitars ona regular basis and have had a lot of positive comments. I'll definitely continue using them!

I've been playing long enough to have essentially tried every major string brand and I always find myself returning to Ernie Ball. There's something about their strings that just feels different. The break-in period is always much shorter than other brands I've tried as well, which may be an important aspect to you if you are a touring musician that constantly changes strings. When I was but a young man, I strung my guitar up with Regular Slinky's and never saw a reason to try anything else. Eventually, the hands and fingers began to slacken a bit with age and I resorted to trying the Super Slinky's and never looked back. Until now. Some ten years later of using Super Slinky's interspersed with the occasional foray into Dean Markley's, GHS Boomers, D'addario, all manner of coated strings that claimed to last months, and even some obscure European brands, I return to Ernie Ball surprised at all of the new additions made to the Slinky brand. There are gauges I have never seen before. Prior to the Hybrids, I tried the Skinny Top, Heavy Bottom set but did not quite find them to my liking. This, however, was entirely different. I was now able to play the plain strings as though I were playing a set of Supers but play the wound strings as though I'd had a heavier set for rhythm playing.I don't remember the last time I was this excited about something so seemingly trivial as guitar strings but I now intend to try the other Slinky variants to see whether there are some other gems I am perhaps missing out on!Oh, and before I leave you, I must add for the young lads that may not quite know their way around the instrument quite yet to either learn to correct the intonation themselves or to take it to a shop to have this done. Remember that changing your string gauge will require you to readjust the intonation as the various factors coalesce to influence this ever so important yet overlooked aspect of the instrument.Happy playing!

I've used all kinds of strings over the years, and been happy with standard 9-42's. Used them for decades. But I got myself a Strat, and was finding my sound a tad anemic with the 9-42's. I'd been used to humbucker guitars and got plenty of oomph out of 9-42's. But with the SSS Strat my sound just felt, lacking. So I looked at the hybrid with some curiosity, and figured what the heck.Note, I play through a 2 channel, well known, quality tube amp. No pedals. No digital B.S. Just raw tube amp power. EoB on chan1 and gain/sustain for days on chan 2, even with a SSS Strat with 9-42's.Wow! What a difference. That lack of punch I was feeling is long gone. Has balls now. I'd never have thought a hybrid set would make this much of a difference, but they do.Might not actually need the hybrids on my humbucker guitars, but with the Strat they make all the difference in the world. And guess what? I use them on my humbucker guitars too. There's just more depth there. More growl. More attitude.Try it. You'll like it. If not, all it cost you was a pack of strings. ;)

I've used Earnie Ball for 40 years. They last, are durable, and maintain their tone.
