I am a cyber security researcher and seen this microcontroller on an ethical hackers video. I was curious to see what the potential is.A few things to consider:1. There are no instructions it is presumed you know what this is and how to use it at some level.2. There are no drivers which is important if you want to program this from your MAC, PC or Linux computer.3. It is Arduino compatible hardware so you will need to know that language or be prepared to update the firmware to use MicroPython.4. You need a USB C to C or USB A to C cable to communicate with this module directly.[Now for my mistake: not all USB cables are the same – some only charge and therefore won’t work.] Ensure the cable is a DATA cable as I lost time with the wrong cable trying to set this up. There are some useful ESP8266 information on Google and YouTube but this module is a newer version as it supports USB C rather than Micro USB.Driver: For Windows CH341SER.EXE this works perfectly on Windows 11. For other OS you will find similar drivers (CH340G).Arduino IDE: added the ESP8266 to board manager. There is a link that needs to be added but again Google how to set up for the URL.Review: Can’t believe how cheap this is an how it can be used for pen-testing or building your own IoT device. Well worth price and it does work perfectly once set up. Looking forward to building some interesting projects.
