Essentiel Ferre 1960 - 1974

I generally avoid buying box sets because I usually find that I don't have time to listen to the contents quickly enough to identify any defects with the individual CDs. However, when the artist in question is one of France's greatest and most prolific singer-songwriters, I am willing to make an exception. This set brings together all the key albums from Leo Ferre's second 'golden' period from 1960 to 1974, essentially all the studio albums he made for the Barclays label, except for his recordings of poems by Baudelaire, Verlaine and Rimbaud. These constitute an important omission, as they are generally regarded as being amongst his finest work. If you want these in hard copy format, you will need to either track them down individually or buy the Barclays Integrale Indigne set, which is only available at a competitive price on Amazon France. However, for those willing to do without these albums, this set represents unbeatable value - particularly for those chiefly interested in the songs where Ferre wrote both music and lyrics.

Pour les vrais amateurs de Ferré;ce coffret couvre une grosse partie de sa carrière.c'est la période que j'aime le plus de lui.Sa musique est d'une beauté;il était un excellent compositeur.Je suis très heureux de cette acquisition.

Die kleinen , den Original LPs nachempfundenen Hüllen sind gut reproduziert - jedoch nicht aufklappbar, wie so manche Original LP.Einen Stern Abzug wegen ein paar kleiner Fehler (L'espoir im booklet falsche Jahreszahl, léo ferré 64 nicht wie original LP wiedergegeben, L'été 68 ebenso und falsches digitales coverbild bei léo ferré 64)Die Musik von L'espoir verdient 7 Sterne - ein Monolith unter seinen Werken (wuchtig, zerbrechlich und melancholisch)Jeder große Künstler hat seinen Faust, oder seinen Macbeth, oder seine Blechtrommel, oder Deutschstunde oder seinen Meister und Margarita und so wird bei LF die Musik und Poesie immer besser bis zu L'espoir, um dann wieder langsam auf extrem hohen Niveau abzuflachen.Der zweite große Poet des 20.Jhdt. Leonard Cohen hat mit I'm Your Man die gleiche Entwicklung hinter sich.

Dans de jolies pochettes, un peu comme les originales, CD comme le rond central du Vinyle d'époque Barclay. Il manque quelques titres comme Nous Deux et Les 400 coups, c'est pour ça que j'enlève une étoile.

Pendant longtemps je n'ai pas osé , par moi même avouer que Léo Ferré me touchait. J'avais entendu en 1978 le disque " Il n'y a plus rien " daté de 1972. J' avais alors entendu une partition musicale, crescendo extraordinaire plus que les paroles. Et retenu une voix avec un vibrato particulier. j'en étais à cette époque , à claude François, Sinatra, et d'autres. En 2021, aujourd'hui, je comprend le lien de Léo Ferré avec les crooners et le jazz et... la poésie française, les paroles de Aragon, et de léo Ferré lui-même. Surprise... léo Ferré est un grand crooner. Le timbre est sublime, c'et un baryton. Le vibrato très fin et les paroles d'une grande sensibilité, d'une poésie sans nom. Un grand grand bonheur d'écouter enfin, sans contrainte de style préférés esclavagistes, un chanteur hors pair, jazzy, français, poète, musical, orchestral, enfin comme Jacques Brel, un géant de la chansons française. Le son est bien, tout est bien.
