This is a very useful tool for removing surface mounted devices (smd). With some solder paste and application of this low melting point solder on top of the solder to be removed, by continuously running the soldering iron along the solder it becomes molten and can be easily removed and saves a lot of time. I prefer this method to desoldering pumps, hot air reworking stations and desoldering braid.

Honestly theis low melt solder comes clutch never got a bad batch in years of buying it. Extremely easy to work with.

I've been fixing radios for 40 years and when the new surface-mounted components started to immerge it became an issue to remove large IC. I was skeptical at first till I had to remove a 40 pin IC from the radio and I didn't want to brick a customer's radio. I found this alloy that actually works fantastic for large IC removal. For modern day electronics, this is the best it makes it so easy to remove large IC's from a circuit board

I love this stuff. It works incredibly well at getting components off especially if you're dealing with non-leaded solder.This stuff is great especially for any sensitive components you'd like to place back on. Remember to clean this stuff fully off before you solder your parts back on you don't want this stuff to be part of your final soldering.
