After getting both camshaft sensor errors codes coming up, it was a clear sign that the sensors were not faulty but that my timing chain had jumped and so the camshaft sensors could not communicate the proper speed to the engine. Like most people I tried to replace my two sensors and was shocked at the cost for these items from BMW. Thankfully I took a chance and bought these sensors and they work. They are a fraction of the price of the BMW part and so far they are working just as well. Now if you have an old E46 and you get Camshaft error codes, always check your timing chain tension and your timing chain tensioner. They will fail very gradually after 70k miles and do this before swapping sensors. If you do buy these parts, they are worth the purchase and won't brake the bank either. Many people will always complain about aftermarket products and in general they have a point but this item seems to be just as good as the BMW version. Febi is an OEM supplier and so they probably make the branded BMW versions too.
