I had LG 32” TV until few months back and connecting through 3.5 mm audio output of TV, I was using Sennheiser RS110 wireless audio transmitter with headphone. I enjoyed listening to music and movies and other programs after my wife goes to bed at night. I was fully satisfied with this arrangement as the music can be heard BOTH in TV speaker and my Sennheiser headphone when my wife also watches TV, with independent control of volume level.Last month bought SONY 43W800D SMART TV expecting that I can continue to enjoy the above facility. Unfortunately to my disappointment, SONY has only optical output and no independent 3.5 inch audio output. After searching SONY and other websites, I found out that present generation SMART TVs do not provide audio output. I don’t understand why advancing technology should mean cutting down old features and facilities. (I will be happy to hear from other people who have knowledge about why this feature is removed in SMART TV).As I am having hearing deficiency as a senior citizen with TV speaker sound, I was longing to get solution like my previous LG setup. Some reviewers in amazon.in were sceptical that if optical output is connected to this DAC, main TV speaker volume will be cut off. One reviewer in amazon.com however, had exactly like my requirement of sound in BOTH headphone and TV speaker. He said this DAC converter is good solution. So, straightaway I ordered this.I connected as per instruction and to my surprise, the sound from the headphone is better than my earlier LG setup, maybe because this is from optical output which is of superior quality than analogue 3.5 mm audio output of my earlier LG TV.I recommend to people who have need like me to go ahead and use this device. Except that it is expensive (this FiiO DAC is almost twice the price of other DACs) it is totally satisfactory.

Wanted to get a couple more outputs out of my Focusrite Scarlett 18i20, and this did the trick. Was getting some digital chirping at first but I think I didn't have the cables connected quite firmly enough because when I reconnected everything it worked fine and has been since.

Bought this to remove computer noise from Sound Blaster Z gaming setup without using an external analog chain device, have been using ART DTI, which does a great job of removing computer noise, though it is still faintly audible and very high volumes, that said I wanted to not have it in chain and also have it available for other applications. The FIIO D3 works perfectly and easily from the sound blaster Z optical connector at 24/96 khz, passing through the Z pro studio effects with no issues (setup the digital out on Z, check pass stereo mix to digital out in the z control panel advanced features, and the default out has to still be Speakers not SPDIF-OUT only trick to it, which i found with a quick google search, if you want the pro studio processing.) It sounds cleaner and perhaps a bit more resolute that the Z on its own, but again the Z suffered from computer noise, and/or the inclusion of the ART DTI in the analog line. I could never have the Z analog by itself in my setup the noise was unlivable, my computer has a lot of stuff and usb devices, etc audio runs to a yamaha mixer and studio monitors. Setup is simple, nothing to do on the D3 except select optical or coaxial little switch on bottom. Computer noise totally eliminated, just do not try to power it from a USB port on your computer or you will get all that noise passed through to the analog outs. Using its included USB power adapter plugged into strip sound is clean, clear, and totally meets or surpasses my hope and expectation.EDIT: I meant to include that it is tiny, elegant, and solidly built. It has the air of a high-end piece of gear, and that is no exaggeration.
