Parfait et qualitatif.

I ordered this lead as much from curiosity as from need. I still have a large desktop PC running Windows NT with a Pinnacle DV500 video editing card. I was so proud of the twin 40GB hard drives dedicated to video storage. Outrageous capacity! This accepts Firewire from my Sony PC 7 mini camera, Something that has not been taken from its draw for the last fifteen years while the NT PC has not been switched on for more than twenty!I also have an external hard disc drive with both Firewire and USB connexions. Inevitably, the DV500 could not make use of the Firewire connection on the HDD.The results. First, the Windows NT started without issue! Using a USB hub which plugs into my phone's USB C connector I then connected the firewire cable to the large blue dongle that in turn connects to the DV 500. I opened Adobe Premiere Pro 5.0 (which gives a clue how old the system is) and tried importing a video from my phone. No picture appeared on the screen but sound was recorded. Being positive, I assume that all that will be needed is the appropriate video codec.My second test was to connect the old HHD's Firewire port to a USB A input on my laptop. My laptop ignored it. After the DV500 this was a great disappointment. I hsd the same result trying another laptop. Neither machine even registered the presence of a new USB connection. I would have expected some sort of warning or error message if the USB had been recognised but a driver or more software was required.I was very encouraged by more or less successfully connecting to the DV500 video card and disappointed by the failure of the hard disk. It does date from the same era and has been squirreled away for nearly as long. It is possible something on board has decided on early retirement. In conclusion, this is a great cable and more to the point, especially considering historical prices, it is extremely inexpensive.
