I read about FIRST 100 SONGS TO PLAY ON BASS/EASY SOLOS FOR BEGINNERS on bassmusicianmagazine.com. I was looking for an easy songbook chock-full of familiar (and fun) songs to play. I played the 4-string bass guitar in the early eighties and began reteaching myself the instrument in November 2021. Many of the beginner-level bass guitar songbooks on the market are collections of songs from genres I am unfamiliar with. But this book includes songs I have known since I was in elementary school. As for the relatively small number of songs I don't know? Well, there is what I will define as an "online audio supplement" available on YouTube. This video shows a portion of the sheet music as the song is playing. This makes it easy to find the songs I need to review. If you are a beginning bass player or someone like me who is reacquainting themselves with the instrument - this songbook is ideal. Then, when you are ready to give yourself a kick in the pants, there are suggestions for exercises you can do to make the transition from a beginner level of playing the songs to a more intermediate level.
