Two parts the retractable tape is strong and the halt/lock button very responsive. If your dog is a chewer of leads keep the retracting tape out of reach a dog could snip it like scissors. The stretchy/buffer attachment is great and far stronger/weightier than the retracting tape so it is kinda weighed down when suspended from end of tape. Fine for me and my pup though. Q
