The fabric and rest of the kit is of low quality. The preprinted fabric rubs off easily with only a tiny bit of sweat.The instructions miss very important sashiko steps and refer to western embroidery rules, not Japanese.The kit comes from China, not Japan. Sashiko should come from Japan and thus this is a Japanese embroidery inspired coaster set. Not sashiko.

Easy instructions to follow a good beginners ptoject

It has been a really fine experience to try my hand at sashiko. It made me want to go on to maybe more difficult kinds of sashiko.

This is an excellent little kit, which makes 4 very nice coasters. Impressed that it includes all the hardware, including a very good pair of scissors. Would definitely have given this 5 stars, if the proper thread had been provided. Ordinary embroidery floss is much harder to work with & does not provide such a good finish as it untwists easily whilst sewing & individual strands separate too easily. Otherwise, this would make a fab present for a sewer or a great little project for someone, even of limited experience.
