This MTB Headset Bearing set (semi-integrated) arrived quickly, and was well packed - all the pieces were stacked in the correct order and orientation which made assembly into the bike very easy. I did not have to replace the races in the head-tube itself, so i can not speak to that, but the lower race seated well on my fork, and the upper race was fully constrained by the top-cap. The replacement top-cap is also an improvement over the OEM part on my bike, as the replacement is made of aluminium and contains an O-Ring to help keep dust and water out of the bearings. That being said, these are not sealed bearings, so I did add some MoS2 grease to the bearings themselves to eliminate any corrosion risk and improve running wear. When all was assembled (i used about 80 Ncm on the top-screw to clamp the bearings together), the headset was smoother and more stable (no noticeable movement in the headset to the head-tube) than the 4 year old OEM parts. All in all it took me about 30 minutes to replace the bearings, again, without having replaced the inner races.

Bought as replacement headset for my daughter's Chris Boardman bike (Halfords) as the original gave best to repeated visits to Southwold sand dunes. Replacement was a 30 minute job and an easy DIY.

I've always been a big fan of FSA stuff and this headset didn't disappoint. Fits perfectly and runs true. Highly recommended.

After about 5k miles on my gravel bike, my sealed cartridge bearings started to go out. I run sealed bearings on all my bikes, but not wanting to spend a whole lot, I found these FSA loose bearing headset on Prime.Install was simple, removed my old cups and pressed in the new ones. I applied some grease to the bearings and set everything back in. First thing I noticed was how smooth the headset felt, I mean very smooth. No binding or headset shakes.I have some very $$$ sealed bearings on my tri bike and these felt just as good, light years better than the cheap sealed cartridge units that are all over. In these times of saving money, is it worth going back to loose bearing sets? I know I'll be picking up a few spares for my other bikes.
