I'm using for DVD's and CD's and cannot believe the sound for the price.Main thing to get best out of these speakers is to remember that you have 3 volume controls.The first on your computer system, the second on the cd or dvd screen display and thirdly on the speaker unit itself.Balancing these three will get you your best sound.The stereo is great as is if you just want a mono sound, on DVD's the range of sound is great from rustling grass to whispers to explosions or background percussion to background singers on CD's.Things to note.....the usb power cable is not that long, but can be plugged directly into a usb wall plug if you don't have enough usb ports on computer. The 3.5mm jack cable again is not too long but can be plugged into one out side of a splitter and a long cable, I use a 3m cable, plugged into other out side to enable positioning well away from computer.I'm sure audiophiles would be able to point out where the sound is lacking, but to my old ears I find these speakers unbelievable value.The other issues with budget purchases is longevity, but as I won't be playing on full volume, which can be very loud, I'm sure they will last.......but hey if the speakers start losing function after a year or two, I'll just buy another pair.In fact I will probably buy another pair anyway as I think there's a way to run 4 of these speakers in different paired positions around the room for a surround sound effect......I'll report back.
