It was a long time coming, having Garmin merge the benefits of the S60 with the S40. Now you can have the best of everything. You can have "plays like" distances, battery life that matters AND easy to navigate hazards list. If htose things are important to you (as they were with me), then buy this watch. As a two plus year user of the s60, I stayed with that watch because of the "plays like" distance. It is important for me to factor in elevation where I play, but this watch's cursor feature was implemented badly, required too many button pushes and made finding distances to reach and to clear hazards very hit or miss. I was relatively happy, but always wanted more. On the golf trips, had to turn it off at the end of 18 while we ate lunch and maybe it lasted another 18 and mostly. didn't. So following is my review of the s62.FACE: marginally lager. Ads say 17 percent more face area, so that is good, becuase the s60 seemed too little when trying to look at the hole view. Is the s62 bigger? Yeah, marginally so, but the real benefit here is that it is both clearer and more readable in the sun. In fact, the more direct sun is on ths s62, the better and easier it is to read. I like it so much beter, it's hands down a winner. And that's before I downloaded a free Rolex blue face (the poor man's Rolex). It looks good in watch mode, allowed me to customize he information (heart rate and battery percentage).BATTERY LIFE: almost a good enough reason to buy this watch on its own. It's nuts. Where I only got 1 and a half rounds on a full charge on the s60, I get 3 full rounds and then some on this watch. It's that good. It's maybe 25 percent per 18 (plus drive time in watch mode). I put it back on the charger at 25 percent, but could probably eek another round out of it.TIME TO LOCATE SATs: So much better here too. While it never bothered me to wait for the s60 to find them, this is faster by a noticeable amount. I never knew how great it was to find so fast until I have it. I'd never want to go back.PLAYS LIKE: could this be any better than before? Well, yes. Yes, because when you have the Garmin Golf app opened (and sitting in the cart), you get wind on this watch. Direction and speed. I'm not entirely sure if Plays Like factors in wind or not, but whatever, I factor it in with my human brain and it helps me to know its 10 mph off the left quartering.HAZARD LIST: I think the s40, which my buddy has is still better. That one is a straight list of hazards and you move through them. s60 didn't have squat and I hated it. Was very hard to get the distance to reach the water. s62 is better, and I'll take it. What you do is touch the map near your hazard, and it ususally defaults to the nearest bunker, then there are these interactive buttons that pop up in the face itself, arrow buttons really and you cycle through the nearest hazards. Does it work? Yes. Is it better than s60? No question. I find it a little weird but it works. It finds the water on my 11th hole right after the bunker and gives me "distance to rough? (front) and distacne to edge (to clear).OTHER THINGS: it does a better job knowing that I am starting on the 10th hold (my course flipped the nines for COVID to distance better), and it's noticeably better than my old watch finding it automatically. I like this better. Occassionally, moving it to a different hole is not as easy as before, where all you had to do is swipe up or down to change holes. As far as I can tell, this s62 needs to access a Change Hold menu (easy enough to find), and then you cycle through the numbers. It works. It's fine. If you didn't have the s60 or s40 it won't bother you at all. If you did, takes a little getting used to, but you don't have to do it much so it's quibbling.PULSE 02 and HEART RATE: Boom. this is great. Always on heart rate (easily accessible by hitting the back button and looking at my watch face complication) is nice (if only I could figure out why it reads 20 beats higher than my Apple Watch). Pulse 02? Also cool, especially now. You have to swipe up to access the widgets and start a reading (similar to Apple Watch's ECG feature) then you stand still for a half minute to minute and you have it. It's a nice feature.GARMIN CONNECT/GOLF APP: getting better, never really understood why they separated the two, it's odd, but the Golf App states (strokes gained driving, approach, chipping) is a nice feature, as is the stats by course. Without having to input anything! It's kind of cool to know I'm hitting 67 percent of fairways--as good as Bryson DeChambeau, though more than 80 yards shorter.WHAT's BAD: not much, other than the price. But considering you get a bunch of other health activity data (that I don't really use with it), it's really not terrible. I find it to be worth it; there is a robost secondary market for the s60 on auction sites, and I got $200 for mine. So that brought the cost down on the s62 to a place where it made sense given it will probably be replaceable in two years again.I've had a bout 4 different Garmin golf watches over the years. If like me, you prefer the watch to the phone style devices or lasers, this watch has got the best features out there at present. Tag Heuer doesn't have as much asn is 1500 bucks. Skycaddie has a contender (with a 2 or 3 year subscription thrown in), but it's mostly vaperware right now.I highly recommend this to the serious golfer who also wants things like steps, stairs, flights, heart rate, pulze ox.
