This disposal unit is a 5 star device with the exception of the macerator. It's a pretty big miss to not use stainless steel on the macerator. I installed this in 2022 and used it for a year. Then it sat unused for 3 months while I was away. When I came back, it wouldn't spin. I could hear the motor trying to run. I disassembled it and found the macerator had rusted itself to the inside of the unit. Once I broke it free and wire brushed the larger chunks of rust off, it works again. I just wonder how long it will last. the macerator disk is about 3/32 thick, but steel being submerged in water does not have a long shelf life. guess ill see how long it takes to rust away to nothing. Disappointing. I know products are built to a price point, but its a shame they chose to skimp on the metal part. it would be a FANTASTIC VALUE if it was stainless.

After 9 years, one of the grinding things broke off. The new unit was an exact replacement and relatively easy to install. The hardest part was getting the old quick lock ring off and had to use a hammer. The second hardest part was rewiring the unit. All necessary parts were included. Placed a small amount of silicon grease on all rubber gaskets to help seat new parts. The entire process took me about 1.5 hours. Would have given 5 stars, but can not speak to reliability. Will update this review if the unit gives me trouble.

Tired of replacing this one; I'm installing an Insinkerator instead. It was OK until it broke again. I had replaced the previous one with the same product in order to make the install easy. And it is easy to replace same for same, but you are setting yourself up to have the same issues as well. I don't really use a disposal very much, but they still break after a few years. So this time I went with an Insinkerator and the install still wasn't bad. Hopefully going with something different will last longer.
