Being in a 'boil water before use' flood zone after Helene, this took a load off my worries.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:I really wasn't that sure what to expect with this product when I first ordered it. I've definitely heard of UV filters to clean water, but I wasn't very familiar with a system that is installed directly into your water supply.What impressed me at first was the build quality and design of the materials. You do feel like you are getting a high-quality product, and it includes everything for the UV filter to work. However, you will likely need to purchase a few extra components for the installation.IMPORTANT NOTES:The first thing to note is this is not exactly a filter; in fact, they suggest this being installed after a filter. It is a purification device that will kill any harmful microorganisms, so the name is kind of confusing, but this will not filter out any impurities like heavy metals or chemicals in the water.INSTALLATION:So in all honesty, the installation isn't that difficult if you have any plumbing experience. However, if you've never worked with plumbing, this is likely a situation that you will need to call a plumber for.Obviously, the install is going to be different as no one's setup is going to be the exact same. However, the basic thought process is the same. I would suggest following the advice of having a bypass, which makes testing and changing of the lights a lot easier.PERFORMANCE:So overall, there really isn't going to be any difference in the taste of the water, but there is definitely a nice feeling of not having to worry about any nasty organisms in the water.CONCLUSION:So, this UV filter is a fantastic add-on to a water filter system. It will kill any organisms that are missed by the filter itself. It is well-built and fairly easy to install.
