I've loved this movie since I saw it when I was 13 in 1975. The story is so good. The DVD quality is good, although there is no closed captions. Overall I'm very happy with it!

"Sweet Hostage," is a beautiful film. It is so well done. Martin Sheen gives an amazing and passionate performance, as Leonard Hatch, he is mentally ill, but has more sanity then anyone I have seen. I really think he is so very handsome. Such a beautful and ,compassionate, and caring man. I love his voice and how he recites poetry. He is also a perfect gentleman throughout the film. Linda Blair is really sweet and believable as Doris Mae Withers. I really like the dress that he buys her, that she wears in the movie. They make a perfect couple Sadly it would never make it on tv or the movies nowadays, in a much more cynical world then the 70's was. I recommended this film to some friends, but as soon as they heard the plot, they were upset I would watch "that kind of movie." I totally adore this film, and am glad I can watch it on dvd and my cat appreciates it. I am 41 and saw clips of it on you tube, so decided to buy it recently. I recommend this film, it is so very much worth watching. It is totally unforgetable, a beautiful film in every way, and the best and most moving love story ever. Also a great story about friendship, reaching out to people, supporting and loving them.
