This was used to update the firmware of my telescope controller and the cable worked perfectly using the serial connection of my old PC.The cable is just under 2m long (5.9ft) and is fairly well constructed. The DB9 end is secured well, but I have concerns about the RJ11 end as there is no strain relief, and the cable is already loose meaning the actual conductors are exposed. I will be adding some heat shrink to hopefully fix any future issues.For an occasional use cable, this may suit your needs, but if you require something more permanent, I would advise you to choose another brand.

The problem with this cable has been identified by another reviewer. The RJ11 plug is "loose" on its cable. The reason is that too much of the cable sheath has been removed. The individual wires are thus too long. Although they are all firmly fixed in place, there is a plastic depression in the plug that should be pressed down across the sheath when the plug is crimped onto the cable. In this plug the depression presses on the four conductors instead, not the sheath.I have some new RJ11 plugs so I can afford to try an experiment. The first photo shows the plug, masked off. The second shows it after I have forced hot melt glue into it. The plug is now stuck at an angle to the cable. but is firmly held in place. It is a crude expedient but works. Much better if it had been better made.
