It has been always a PITA to work with car panels (including undercarriage panels) with all different clips and screws. This is a great helper to remove the clips.Maybe it is because of my skill, I still need a slot screw driver to pop the centre pin a little before this plier shines.The quality of the tool is about average. Definitely not heavy duty but should last for decades since it doesn't need hard work to remove the clips.

I bought this product as I was getting fed up with screwdrivers, and mini prybars putting uneven pressure on these style clips when removing them. This would occasionally damage the clips. Finally I said screw it and bought these.Firstly I want to say that it does what it advertises and it does it well. Full stop. But keep in mind the physical size of these pliers is rather large. I do not keep them in my plier rack in my toolbox as they width of the handles make it impractical to put the handles in the rack. However, they are also a hinderance if the metal part of the pliers go into the rack as the width of the handles protrudes into the neighboring plier rack bays and prevent pliers from going next to these in the pliers rack.Secondly, the physical size of the product can cause it to bump into things and prevent you from taking the appropriate approach angle to remove the clips. You also need to get it quite far into the jaws of the pliers for the smaller clips. This does make sense though as if the entire jaw was narrow it wouldn't be able to take off larger clips as well.Lastly, it has it's job, and is advertised as such. The fact that it is impractical in some scenarios is not the fault of the product and my rating reflects that. My 36oz ball peen dead blow hammer is not practical for scenarios that call for brass hammers. This is not because my hammer sucks, it just isn't the right tool for the job.If you are always finding yourself in those tight nooks and crannies with minimal room, DO NOT BUY THESE. You will most likely blame the tool despite the fact you should have bought something else. If you have lots of room, by all means buy these, they do a great job and I prefer these to the simpler designs that simply have a slot for the clip and a handle for you to reef on. However if you know you need something for tight areas I would have to recommend Astro Pneumatic Tool 9581 clip pliers. Very small, easy to use, and if you put heat shrink on the bottoms of the jaws you can pry against plastic without worrying about marking up the plastic. If you want one tool for all though and you are not dead set on pliers and are okay with the simpler designs, I would recommend any individual tool of the Matco ICL4G 4 pack. They have indexing heads and while it is a 4 pack you can buy the individual one you need to suit your needs. If you want all 4 you can do that as well.I suspect the people looking for trim clip pliers may find themselves in any one of the scenarios I outlined above, maybe they will find themselves in all of these situations at some point. I have explained the fact these pliers work well, but also they have drawbacks in certain scenarios. For the scenarios in which these pliers will struggle, I have provided alternative options to file the void left by the inherent limitations of these pliers. Take a look at the other ones I mention, consider what kind of work you find yourself doing, and make an educated decision based off of the information you have found. If these are the ones you elect to buy, I think it will perform perfectly fine, so long as it is within the innate limitations of this product.
