I want to make some large holes in brass and aluminium. My boring bar needs a 14mm+ hole to begin with. This 16mm bit would be a good start for it. I only have small chucks on my lathe, a 10mm one and a 13mm one so I'm limited in the size of bit I can use. This reduced shank bit lets me lets me drill holes bigger than my chuck could take with a parallel shank standard bit. I centre drilled a piece of aluminium and then used this bit with the lathe turning at 1200rpm. The swarf and cuttings came off the bit evenly on both sides. It cut smoothly and produced a clean hole of 16.12mm just slightly over sized but not a problem as my boring bar will go in next. I'm very happy to use this bit.

Ce foret ne coupe pas. On a besoin de beaucoup insister pour agrandir un trou sur une une tôle d'acier de 2mm afin de poser un judas sur une porte d'entrée. Si je n'avais pas pré-percé à 5mm avant, ça aurait été encore plus difficile.

Der Bohrer bohrt durch Edelstahl (V2A), ohne, dass die Flanken abbrechen, bzw. er Stumpf wird. Die Aufnahme im Bohrfutter ist sehr gut (durch die 3 angeschliffenen bzw. gefrästen Flächen).

El diámetro , es un poco superior a16mm, pero a mí ,me ha servido bien.

This Grevosea 16mm reduced shank drill bit comes in a plastic sleeve with the bit in a thin layer of protective grease. The reduced shank has three sides so it grips well in the drill chuck. In use it works well, both in steel and wood so far, as possibly any other similar size bit while its cut is commendable, it’s the competitive price that catches the eye maybe. The overall quality is good but it’s the longevity is where it will truly show its overall quality, but otherwise I don’t have any niggles about it – it looks okay but importantly cuts okay.
