A drip started a week ago getting gradually worse on my Grohe Red Duo Tap on the boiling side. The dripping water was very hot so it was on the boiling side of the tap. A bit surprising as the tap is just over 4 years old. I was expecting a bit more durability from the German brand. However as the tap was still under warranty I believe it should be covered but I no longer had my original invoice. Grohe customer service said because of this they will send the part as a gesture of goodwill but not an engineer, and the part from Germany will take 2 weeks and advised below to get the part quickerTo resolve the current dripping issue, you need to replace the cartridge in the boiling water control handle. The stock code for the required cartridge is 46678000, and the RRP is £30.43, exc VAT. The best company, to purchase this part through, is National Shower Spares, who currently have it in stock. I couldn't wait two weeks I bought the part from amazon for similar price. The part that turned up was an original Grohe part see picsI am not professional plumber, but after reading other reviews the procedure to replace this part seemed reasonable for a DIYer.The process is fairly straight forward. Just make sure you turn off water supply to the boiling tap, or the whole tap from under the sink for safety. I wouldn't attempt this if you cannot cut off water to the boing side. Also remember to put some water in jug before you turn the water off. Someone will definitely want some while you're working on it:-)The Boiling tap handle is just pushed on and should just come off. A little leverage with a flat blade screw driver (from he back of the tap in case any mark left) may be needed. See pics of what is inside.InstructionsOnce the outer chrome handle is off, remove the screw from the end inside the white cog. The spring will start to loosen and both will come away. Make a note of the spring position (long pin goes into the grey piece)With some leverage the grey piece should also come away, again note the orientation as it will need to go back on the same way.Underneath you will see the brass cartridge. You will need a spanner. I used an adjustable wrench to remove this. Turn anti clockwise, or away from you toward the back of the tap to unscrew. Mine was fairly tight and need a bit of force to undo. See pic - the new cartridge is on the right.I washed the white cog and spring and then lubricated with WD40 before re-assembling - you can see from the pics they were a bit gunked up (technical term:-)Insert and tighten the new cartridge into the tap. Refit grey piece - ensure hole for the spring is at the top as can be seen in the picture.Next fit the spring and white cog, and this is the tricky bit - you need to manually turn the white cog anti clockwise to tension the spring before fitting onto the brass gear before securing with the screw. You might need someone to help you with this.Push fit the outer chrome cover when doneNote. The amount of tension required in the spring might be a bit of trial and error. Too little tension and the tap will be light to operate, which is ok, but may not fully turn off when released. Too tight and the tap won't turn. This fixed my leak and took about half n hour in all. Good luck hope this helps.

As others have said, this is a good replacement item for a dripping Grohe red boiling water tap, which shouldn't fail after about 3.5 years but unfortunately does.Nevertheless, this fixes the problem and is very easy to install without the need for a plumber in about 15 mins.To replace and install is very simple:1 Isolate the cold and hot water supplies to the tap and to the Grohe red boiler, having switched off the boiler first.2. Drain the boiler and pipes by leaving the boiling tap running until it empties, and then the hot/cold water tap similarly.3. Pull the handle off the boiling water part of the tap (left hand side when looking at it), it just pulls off to the left and it comes off quite easily.4. Take a photo of what is beneath! You'll need it to reposition the tap spring and grey plastic knob exactly when reassembling!5. On the newly exposed inner part of the tap, you'll find a screw in the centre of the tap mechanism in the centre of the white part of the handle you have just exposed. Unscrew it, and take off the white clip, spring, and grey plastic cover. This will expose the brass part you are going to replace.6. With a spanner, twist the brass mechanism anti clockwise, it will unscrew quite easily after the initial push and if you have emptied the pipes you won't see any water!7. Put a thin coat of PTFE paste (or similar) around the thread of the new Grohe part to help seal it, then replace the part into the tap, twisting clockwise until tight. Don't overtighten.8. Replace the grey plastic cover(check photo for the correct position), then the spring, the white plastic cover and the screw.9. Don't put on the final cover yet in case you need to readjust anything. Now switch on the hot and cold feeds, make sure the main tap works without dripping or leaking.10. If Ok, switch on water feed to the boiler, without switching on the boiler. Water will run through the boiler and you can check the tap isn't dripping or leaking the boiling water feed by rotating the white plastic knob you have just replaced.11. If all ok, replace the silver boiling tap handle, make sure it's in the correct position so it clocks of itself automatically, then switch on the boiler. 15 minutes job and very easy!!
