Written in a thoughtful, easy to understand way, luckily for me I chose this book to get started in the world of Jazz Chords. So many audio examples to help you out!

A truly excellent book for those with basic chord skills moving into the world of jazz and alternate voicings. The book has excellent chord diagrams with great explanations on how the chords are formed. For those with basic competent guitar chord skills you’ll be playing some really nice jazz chord sequences within a matter of a day or so. If you’re an absolute beginner on guitar this probably isn’t the right book for you, there are other more suitable titles as the author rightly points out. The theory is thankfully kept to what you need or should know rather than, like in so many other books, simply telling you everything the author knows about music theory. The emphasis is on practical jazz playing for a beginner in this genre. If you’ve been playing for a while and dread that moment when someone asks you to pick up a guitar and play something and you really don’t know what to play to impress them, I’m pretty sure if you absolutely master the first 12 chords outlined in the first couple of chapters you’ll be impressing your friends with some really cool playing and sound like a proper guitarist!
