Darek has put together an excellent tutorial for someone like me who is getting back into playing the piano after many years away. I have just discovered Satie’s work and enjoy its engaging simplicity. I will be looking for more of Darek’s tutorials for piano.

I love this series of books with different versions of classic songs at different difficulty levels. My kid has used The Entertainer and Fur Elise already to find recital pieces at his level.The problem with this book is that the second of the four piano versions is three pages long instead of just two, so the medium and hard versions require a page flip in the middle of the song. When the whole song is just two pages long, it should really be printed on a two-page spread. There's a single page guitar tab version that could have gone after the easy piano version, or if that seemed too weird, you could have just stuck a page for notes or something in there. There's a lot of filler material in the back half of the book, so it's weird to ruin the main reason anyone is buying this with awkward pagination.

I really like the arrangements that Darek has developed, but the pagination is so awful that I can’t recommend this product. The very easy arrangement is on two facing pages - great. The easy arrangement is in quite large print such that it needs three pages, the first two face, with a turn for page 3 - this arrangement could have been printed on two pages. After the easy arrangement, the medium and hard versions are each on two pages requiring a page turn - if they didn’t want to reduce the print size on the easy version, a blank page (and there are four blank pages at the end of the book) after the easy version would have eliminated the page turns for the medium and hard versions. The lead sheet is on one page and the guitar version is on two facing pages.
