The sensors came in separate ESD pouches, which was nice, and the actual quality of the sensor seems to be as it should be.The PCB is a good 1.6 mm thick and feels sturdy enough to be used in a planter. The timer IC is a texas instruments TLC555I, with a voltage range of 3-15 volts.While the via hole seems to be in the wrong position, testing on a multimeter, the connection from the 1M ohm resistor to GND seems to be functional. Additionally testing on a raspberry pico with 0.2 second read times and using 3.3 volts, the sensor felt very responsive and accurate with its output values.Time will tell if these last in use, but at the time of receiving these seem to be perfectly functional for my project.

Ho acquistato questi moduli Hailege per un progetto Arduino e sono rimasto soddisfatto del loro funzionamento. La lettura dell'umidità è precisa e la risposta è rapida. Il range di tensione è ampio e si adatta a diverse alimentazioni. Il prezzo è competitivo e la confezione da 5 pezzi offre un buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. Unica pecca, la documentazione fornita è un po' scarna, ma con qualche ricerca online si riescono a trovare facilmente le informazioni necessarie.

The "CapacLtLve soLL moLsture sensor 2.0" is not what is shown in the product pictures. But let's test them: all 5 suffer from the same known issue as millions produced alike: the resistor is not correctly wired in the board, so values do not change (rapidly). By soldering a 1M ohm resistor between the GND and AOUT pins, this issue is resolved.After that, the sensors work fine and seem to give relatively similar values. It's a shame though you need to fix them yourself. I should send it back but hey, got it working. (I'm using an Arduino Uno with 5V)You can waterproof these sensors by giving them layers of varnish or paint. The resulting values are very close to the ones without these layers.When testing dry and submerged in water, the values are pretty constant. I noticed however that when planted in soil, it's much more volatile so you'll need some logic to take average or median values. I guess this is not a sensor fault but just the way outdoor organic soil behaves.

Utilisé avec l'ADC d'un Shelly Uni et/ou d'un arduino, entre 0 et 3.3v. Assez fiable pour l'arrosage d'un petit pot de fleur.

I ordered 2 times from here and the sensors came with different TL555 chips, one is the C version and one is the I version. They have different ranges.Also it seems the via is wrongly placed so R4 will not be ground connected but that is an easy fix
