Hal Leonard Classical Guitar Method - Book 2: An Intermediate-Level Guide with Step-by-Step Instructions

Very well structured book. This is a great follow-up to Book 1.

Worked my way through book 1, what I liked was the lack of tab, it encouraged me to read real music, so glad I persevered, the notes make total sense now so on book 2 I can further my skills, 2 hours a day practicing, I’m loving the learning process.

The first issue is that the text is absolutely tiny. This book has the same dimensions of the first one, but for some reason all the text is extremely small, making it difficult to sight-read. I'm not sure if this was a mistake or a cost-saving measure, but it is clearly not necessary since the first book has much larger text.The second problem is attribution of credit. Many of the pieces are presented without op. numbers or years, or have nonstandard names. On page 36, it simply calls the piece "Estudio" by Fernando Sor. A search through the Jerry Willard collection shows that this is in fact Exercise No. 22, op. 35, but there would be no way to know without going through the collection and comparing each piece. I have no idea why Hal Leonard is trying to obfuscate this information, since the piece is almost certainly public domain, but it's very frustrating as a student.

Along with the tunes online which you get access to with this book, you can learn how a piece of music should sound so that sight reading improves all the time. Very similar to having a tutor that waits for the slow coach to catch up, just play the audio again and again until you get it right, fantastic product with encouraging results.I have now bought the three books 1, 2, and 3, and have great confidence that I will work through them in orderSo excited.

No tab so easy to convert to reading music. Only took me a week or two. Has improved my playing immensely.
