I am not a regular 'boot' wearer, however jumped at the chance to review a sample pair of the Halfword Men's Leather Chelsea Boots. The past UK winter has been particularly wet, and if this is the pattern in the future, I need footwear beyond a pair of trainers or regular work shoes when going out. The Halfword Boots seemed a good option to try.These are early observations after a few days with the product.The good, is that the boots are easier to put on and take off than I feared, look ok and are reasonably comfortable. I initially wore long thinnish socks with the boots and could feel the boots through the socks. When I switched to thicker socks, it was more comforable. I don't think the boots can be worn with no socks, or thin socks.My concern is how long these will last. This is not possible to assess after a few days, and at this point I can only guess. The soles seem thinner than I would want in a pair of boots to be worn on a near-daily basis through winter and I suspect that walking over rough terrain might not be a good idea.After putting on the boots three times, the left zip of the left boot has cotinually been more difficult to pull up than the other zips. Partially this is because I am right-handed and it will always be the trickiest zip to pull up. It may however indicate some problems for the future. The zips seem flimsier than I would have hoped in a hard-wearing boot. Zips and soles will come under pressure and if worn regularly I doubt whether they will last that long.Rather than use the Halfword Chelsea boots on a daily basis, my inclination is to put these away and use them a few times a year as 'special occasion' boots when I will be outside during particularly poor weather. I would love to be wrong, but they don't feel as sturdy as I hoped they would be.

These are not my normal style of shoe, but I needed something a bit more 'dressy'. Firstly, the size seems about right. I take a size 11 with a slightly wide fit, and they fit me very well. I wouldn't want to walk for miles, but that's not what these shoes are for.There is no indication on the shoes as to what any part of them are made of. The description says leather, and they might be, but I can't tell for sure. Whatever it is it's quite thin and supple. The soles feel like a fairly hard rubber, but with a decent level of grip.Overall for dress shoes for occasional use these will do me just fine.

These are smart-looking boots. I always wear walking boots but they’re not suitable for more formal occasions so I thought I’d give these a try.I went for the coffee colour as they looked almost black in the pictures. I was a little upset when they turned out to be much lighter that I’d expected. I’m not sure I like that particular colour as it won’t go with many of my other clothes. I should’ve gone with black!Anyway, that’s a purely personal opinion and doesn’t detract from the quality of the boots. They have a nice finish and fit reasonably well on my feet. There’s just a small amount of movement in the heel area despite wearing thick socks. I might have to see if heel pads will prevent this but I’d rather not resort to those measures. I’m used to more padding around the boot cuff with walking boots so these might take some getting used to.The soles seem grippy but aren’t very thick, again it’s different to what I’m used to and aren’t necessarily bad points.Overall, I think these boots are a good buy.

Wasn't expecting much,However the fit is perfect.They do feel a bit on the cheap side, however I cant complain.I really like them.

These chelsea boots could have been a lot nicer if they just made a couple of tweaks to the design.I was unsure which of the two shades of brown to get, so I went for ‘Coffee’ - I probably should have gone for the ‘Brown’ as the one I chose is a little odd for my taste and not quite what I was expecting. Profile-wise they are good - not too pointy with decent overall footprint and shape. I am not so keen on the sort-of ruched finish to the leather upper as it makes the leather look a little strange. I am also not a fan of the tassels - which you can of course take off but the resultant zipper pull is rather small.It’s unusual that there is a zipper on both sides of the boot - some people might find that a boon, but I find that one side is just permanently zipped up whilst the other side I use for access.Aside from those quirks, I actually quite like them. As I say, the colour choice is probably something the pictures need to make clearer so you can make a more informed selection.
