Hasbro is een speelgoedbedrijf gevestigd in Pawtucket in de staat Rhode Island in de Verenigde Staten van Amerika.
Hasbro staat erom bekend dat speelgoedlijnen van andere bedrijven zoals Monopoly themabordspel, Play-Doh modelleermassa of Playskool educatief speelgoed hebben gekocht.
Het bedrijf werd op 6 december 1923 door de broers Hassenfeld opgericht, oorspronkelijk "Hassenfeld Brothers" genoemd. In 1968 verkort het bedrijf echter zijn naam met inachtneming van de eerste drie letters van elk woord, om een merk gemakkelijker te herkennen.
Hasbro is opgericht door drie broers en zussen: Herman, Helal en Henry Hassenfeld op 6 december 1923 als "Hassenfeld Brothers", een bedrijf voor de textielsector, dat zich later op de markt van schoolspullen uitstrekt.
In de jaren 1940 slaagde het bedrijf erin zijn eerste speelgoed te maken: een reeks dokterskits. Ze werden echter niet herkend, maar tot de publicatie van "Mr. Potato" zijn sterspeelgoed, uitgevonden door George Lerner in 1952. Later produceerden de broers en zussen speelgoed met de licentie van G.I. Joe, speciaal in 1964, met als doel de markt voor kinderspeelgoed te betreden.
In 1984 brengt Hasbro wat een andere succesvolle speelgoedfranchise zou zijn: Transformers, die momenteel een van de meest succesvolle franchise van het bedrijf is.
Bovendien werkte hij samen met Discovery Communications om The Hub uit te voeren, die Discovery Kids in sommige landen tot de verdwijning in 2014 vervangde.
