When the lift is up enough it engages the winch and stops me from overlifting. It works as expected. My only concern is the longevity as I'm not sure it is rated for weather and moisture, but that is not a problem of the product, rather a problem in my not thinking of that before I purchased this. So far so good!

This probe is pretty unique in that it runs off of as little as 5V. This is really great because it means that you can wire it directly to the logic pins of your mainboard/microcontroller without concern of damaging anything. No need for complicated diode/resistor/multiple voltage setups. Just 5v in and job done.
