Tested against a (similar value proposition) digital caliper using a 6mm router bit (see picture). Caliper says 6.01mm, micrometer says 5.955mm, difference easily attributable to variation in diameter of router bit as well as being within the accuracy claimed for both items. Somehow I trust the Hilka more. It feels better quality.Unless you have a very real requirement for better accuracy I cannot see any reason to spend more money!I like nice, intricate, things for themselves - I would have been happy to buy this even if I didn't have a need for one, just for the pleasure of that micrometer 'click' of the ratchet as it makes contact. Beautiful.A little note: the first one of these has a slight issue where the outside barrel was not perfectly round, or concentric with the inner barrel, with the result that it would scrape and not give a proper reading at first click. One of the contact points was almost on zero, so couldn't be properly calibrated as first click was barrel contact, second click to anvil contact. I returned using the always excellent Amazon process, and the replacement, while still not perfectly round/concentric (you have to be looking for it) does not have contact issues so I am very happy at this price. Had it been 3 times the price I'd have returned it as well.

Excellent tool, not as good as the digital versions. Would be good if it came with some instructions for people who have never used one. I have staff in my department who have never even heard of a micrometer.

Una vez aprendes a utilizarlo, es sencillo. En youtube hay vídeos de como hacerlo.Se ve de una calidad aceptable. Si lo cuidas, te durará.He probado con piezas calibradas, y ese error de 0,01 puede que lo tenga, pero creo que nadie que necesite precisiones tan grandes, gastaría tan poco en un medidor de estos.Yo estoy contento. Lo he utilizado para medir pastillas de reglaje de válvulas de una moto. Las medidas eran de 2,70 mm. a 2,80, y aunque se fuese 0,01, las medidas eran buenas.Lo compraría de nuevo.Saludos
