While I toggled that these provide good arch support, I DID feel the support through the heel was only adequate. The insole provided is a perfectly flat one that does not cup the heel nor provide a LOT of arch support. I replaced it with a set of Powerstep insoles and feel that these made the entire shoe substantially better for both walking and standing (I use a standing desk).UPDATE: I've had these for a bit less than a year and wore them through the long wet Seattle winter while walking about 2 miles a day in both mud and on pavement. In most respects, I am quite pleased. However I burst a seam in the toe area of one shoe and that compromises them for wet walking now. After the miles I've put on them, I'm not sure I should complain though. Nonetheless, the tread and the rest of the shoe do not show that much wear, so I am disappointed this happened.

I love the lightweight feel of these shoes. They have sturdy soles with good deep tread. They are comfortable to walk in; the only downside for me is that they're not as wide in fit as I would like but I have kept them regardless.

I ordered a size5 which I normally take but these were more like a size 4.
