For years we’ve struggled to keep our dog’s nails short. He loathes having them clipped. I started going to the vet’s to have them done, but he was frantic with fear. He was £30 a time too.This scratch board is brilliant.I sit with it in front of me and use my feet to hold it still. I put cooked chicken inside and as soon as he scratches, I click (with a clicker) and open and reward.My advice is to keep the session short so your dog doesn’t get frustrated and end on a high. Also using high value treats to increase motivation.I did find my dog favoured one paw over the other, so useful to train to use both paws.

this has saved us, our dog always kept his nails down short all his life, we never had to trim them, he's 12 now and slowed down so much that his nails got bad but he absolutely would not let us touch his feet, it became very stressful. his nails got to the point where the vet and sedation would be required which at 12 years old worried me, this board took him no time to learn and with careful paced sessions it took 3 weeks to get them down to normal. excellent product, does exactly what it says, replacement sheets readily available but we only needed to replace it once so far. 100% would recommend , pics are the best he would let us get as cant touch his feet so tried to post the worst to the best although the final photo of them all short is missing but it works, it saved us . ( strangely he still manages to keep his back feet short so we dont have to worry about them )
