First the negatives, because lets be real, that's why we read reviews. I am not sure what fans people owned previously to think this one is quiet-- it is absolutely not. It's not the noisiest we've owned but it's a long way from the quietest. The directions were awful, which made assembly take way longer than it should have-- not ideal when you are being roasted alive. The cover that sits over the base is an ill-fitting, cheap and tacky afterthought that is not secured to the unit in any way, but you don't want to leave it off unless you fancy looking at wingnuts. Finally the cost; I don't know how much it will be when *you* buy this, reader, but for me is was £50, which I have to think is largely due to the fact we are in the midst of UK Heatwave Part Deux and who doesn't like a little gouging? Because is this fan worth that much? Honestly, no. The cons listed above plus the fact that there's no remote make this a fan I'd expect to pay ££15-£20 less for, were we not being baked off the face of good ol' Blighty by global warming.So then, what is *good* about it? Well, it's surprisingly powerful. I expected it to be reasonably strong, but I didn't expect it to blow a painting off my wall, to be fair. (It's fine, it was undamaged as my lounging husband broke it's fall.). And, well, it is doing the job of keeping us alive enough to moan about the heat and lament and pine for the good old days when we got to complain about miserable grey skies and insidious drizzle instead.

Fan arrived in time and in good safe package. Assemebly took 15 minutes, only one step of assemling fan wings cover is slightly time take and slightly hard to put on. Rest is ok. 4+ for fan sturdiness, light weight which could be causing this sturdiness issue but on the same side, easy to lift and put it anywhere. Built is solid and three speed settings works fine. Oscilating 90 is bit tricky and if you try to adjsut it seems something is breaking inside the fan, slightly abnormal way to adjusting direction from downward to upward so currently i am avoiding to do that often. Working fine so far and kids sleeping in peace now in summers days.

I was determined to buy a black fan, as I am one of those who don't like how white fans discolour overtime. This fan fit the bill and overall really pleased with it. It does the job and certainly kept my partner and I cool during the UK heatwave a few weeks ago.My issue is with the fan base, there is this bit of cheap round plastic that cover over the screws. I mean I am hardly looking for a work of art here, but I do feel its of a design mis fail and it doesn't sit in place very well. Also there isn't a handle on top of the fan, which would have been helpful when moving this fan around.It has three settings and it does raise up and down a bit, enough that it will give good air flow near a bed.
