I've had to redo this review as I suspect the pictures of the airsoft RIFs were blocked.Basically the bracket fits neatly on the picattiny rail and rests up neatly before the scope. Not sure why it needs to be hinged as you will always want it in place.I tested the yellow screen (as I only wanted to use the colourless one) and to my shock it shattered on the first shot. This was from a Tokyo Marui FN-57 using 144a gas, so only about 230 fps with a 0.20g pellet. Sure it was from close by, but with a lower powered RIF.Net result it will protect your scope once, meaning you will need to carry spares with you, except if you are using airsoft sights it will be cheaper to just replace these. Now if you are using real steel (as I am, though comparatively cheap - Vector Optics) then you may want the additional protection.One additional note. At first I thought the screens were frosted as they come with a plastic film on each side, but as these are trimmed with they are not obvious and there are no tabs to help remove them, and removing them was a real nightmare.
